Where to Stay on a Srinagar Houseboat
A houseboat night in Srinagar is a stay on the water, on Dal Lake or on Nigeen Lake, rather than a hotel room on the road. Whether it suits you depends on a handful of practical details: what you are booking, how you get on board and what the boat provides.

Location Considerations
Dal Lake or Nigeen Lake
Both lakes have houseboats. We state which one is proposed in the quote. Which suits you depends on how close you want to be to the main lake activity and the city; ask us and we will explain what we propose and why.
Distance from the road
A houseboat is reached from the shore. Ask where the vehicle stops, how you get on board and whether the transfer is by a small boat.
Arrival and departure
Late arrivals and early departures can affect boarding. Tell us your timings so the transfer is planned for them.
Driving
Plans that begin on a houseboat usually start the road journeys from the lake the next morning. We tell you the plan for each day.

Our plans use one houseboat night, and one plan uses two. Which is right depends on whether the boat is the point of your trip or one stop on a longer route. We do not recommend one duration for everyone.

Questions About Staying in Houseboats on Dal and Nigeen Lakes
Does a houseboat room include the whole boat?
No. A room booking is for a room. Exclusive use of the whole boat is a different arrangement, and the quote states which one you are being offered.
Is a shikara ride included?
Only if your plan or quote says so. A sunset shikara is an optional add-on quoted separately.
How do I get on board with my luggage?
The vehicle stops at the shore and you cross to the boat. Tell us about heavy luggage, mobility needs and your arrival time so we confirm the transfer.
Will the boat be warm in winter?
Heating is something to ask about for the room you are offered. We confirm it in the quote and do not assume it.
Can I add a houseboat night to a hotel plan?
Yes. You can swap one Srinagar hotel night for a houseboat night, which keeps the same number of nights, or add one as an extra night.
Which lake will I be on?
The quote states it. We do not publish houseboat names or promise a lake before confirming availability for your dates.
