Day 1 is a houseboat night on Dal or Nigeen Lake: a shikara takes you to the boat, with a sunset ride and dinner on board. Night two is a Srinagar stay after the Mughal gardens and the old city. Gulmarg follows for one night with a Gondola afternoon, then two nights in Pahalgam, where the valley day uses local union vehicles.

The suggested travel period is March to November. That is a planning window from our records, not a promise of weather or access.

It suits two travellers who want a night on the water at the start and a hotel route through Gulmarg and Pahalgam after it. Five of the six days are rated easy; the Gulmarg afternoon is rated moderate. If you want two nights in Srinagar or a Sonmarg stop, compare the related plans below rather than assuming this one can stretch to fit.

The order of the stops follows the day-wise itinerary below. Nights are stays, not day visits: a place you only visit by day is not counted. Hotel names, room categories and availability are shared in your quotation before confirmation.

The Houseboat Night

• A houseboat room booking is assumed. Using the whole boat is a separate arrangement and a separate price.
• You reach the boat by shikara. Your quotation states the lake (Dal or Nigeen) and the boarding point; the boat is confirmed in writing after booking.
• Dinner on board is part of Day 1 in the itinerary. Heating, hot water and room facilities are confirmed for your dates, not assumed.
• How much of Day 1 remains depends on your arrival time. We do not promise the sunset ride if you land late.

• Houseboat: a room booking is assumed. Whether you want the whole boat to yourselves is a separate request and a separate price.
• Pace: ask for fewer activities in a day or an extra night somewhere. A change in nights changes the quotation.
• Optional extras such as room decoration or a candle-light dinner appear in the add-ons list where they are available. They are quoted separately and are not part of the plan.

We do not include romantic extras, upgrades, cakes or decorations in the plan unless the quotation says so.

• Pahalgam valleys

  Aru, Betaab and Chandanwari need a local union vehicle, about ₹2,500–3,500 per vehicle per day, paid locally.

• Hill roads

  Cabs run with the AC off on steep hill roads.

• Winter

  Snow chains are carried in winter.

Practical Preparation for This Trip

• Arrival: share your flight or train number and time as soon as you book it. Your driver meets you at Srinagar airport or the railway station, and how much of day one remains depends on your arrival.
• Clothing: Gulmarg and Pahalgam are higher and usually cooler than Srinagar, so carry layers whatever the month. Waterproof shoes with grip help on meadow and valley paths.
• Walking: one day is rated moderate in the record (for example a meadow walk or a pony or foot approach). The rest are easy. Tell us if stairs, slopes or long drives are a concern.
• Houseboat: you reach the boat by a shikara, usually with bags carried by boatmen. Tell us if boarding, steps or narrow passages are a problem.
• Luggage: tell us the number and size of bags when you ask for a quote. It decides whether a sedan is enough or a larger vehicle is better. See the vehicle pages for luggage guidance.
• Tell us before booking: room and bedding needs, food preferences, mobility or access needs, and children’s ages. We pass them to the property and confirm what is possible; nothing is promised until your quotation states it.
