The Route

The road leaves Srinagar for Ganderbal and Kangan, then follows the Wangath valley to Naranag. The last stretch beyond Kangan is narrower than the main road.

This page is a transfer guide. Trek permits, guides, equipment and camping are not part of a vehicle quote. See the trek packages for how the road transfer fits an itinerary.

Travel Time and Stops

Driving time depends on traffic and on the narrow final stretch. On trek days, the timing of the transfer is set by the trek plan.

  • Driving time: the time on the road between the pickup and drop-off points; we do not publish a figure without a source.
  • Planned stops: any stop you agree with us, which adds time.
  • Sightseeing: time at the destination, where the journey is a day trip.
  • Waiting: any time waiting for you, which your quote states.
  • Total time to allow: the sum of these, agreed with you for your date. We avoid precise arrival promises.

Route information last checked 6 October 2026. Sources are listed with each figure. This page does not state whether any road is open on a given day; confirm access for your travel date.

Pickup and Drop-off

Tell us where you start and whether you are being dropped at the village or at a particular camp or lodging. We do not promise vehicle access beyond the road end.

Your quote states whether it covers the airport or station, the town centre, your accommodation or a specific meeting point, and anything outside the standard route. We do not promise terminal, platform or doorstep access without confirmation.

Optional Stops Along the Way

These are optional unless your quote includes them. Each adds time and can change the quote.

  • Kheer Bhawani, near Ganderbal A shrine near the road; optional.
  • Kangan The town where the valley road to Naranag begins.

Choosing a Vehicle

Trekking groups carry bulky bags. Tell us the group size and gear so we can suggest a vehicle. We do not assume suitability from a model name.

Passenger capacity excludes the driver. Luggage is listed separately for each vehicle on its page. Compare vehicles

Price and Inclusions

Request a Quote. We do not publish a price for this route, because there is no fixed rate for it. A quote for this route is priced for your date, vehicle, passengers and scope.

Your written quote states whether the price is per vehicle or per person, whether it is one-way or return, the distance or hours it covers, and how it treats fuel, driver allowance, parking, tolls, taxes, waiting and extra stops. Where something is not stated, do not assume it is included.

Any rates shown elsewhere on the site are indicative. A transfer quote does not cover a full sightseeing day.

Seasons and Operating Conditions

The trail season is limited and snow can restrict the road. General guidance, not current road status. Confirm for your dates.

General seasonal guidance is kept separate from current road status, which we do not publish. For official road and traffic advisories, check the J&K Traffic Police, the relevant district administration and the Border Roads Organisation on your travel date.
