Hilltop fort · Srinagar
The walk up passes shrines of different faiths, a reminder of Srinagar's layered history.
Hari Parbat is the hill crowned by an 18th-century fort, with a long outer wall built under Emperor Akbar in 1590. Its slopes hold sacred sites of several faiths, including the Sharika temple, Makhdoom Sahib shrine and a gurdwara. After decades of limited access, the fort is open to visitors 9:30 am–5:30 pm, except Sundays, with an entry fee.

From the fort you look over the old city, Dal Lake and the Zabarwan range.
Badamwari, the almond garden, lies at the hill's foot and blooms in March.
