Mughal garden · Srinagar
Twelve terraces climb from the lake road to the hillside, with water running down a central channel through fountains and small cascades. Chinar trees line the upper levels.
Nishat Bagh is the largest of Srinagar's Mughal gardens, a series of terraces stepping down the Zabarwan hills to the eastern shore of Dal Lake, about 10 km from Dal Gate. Laid out in the 1630s, it's known for its central water channel, fountains and chinar trees. Visit in the morning for calm, or at sunset for the view over the lake.

It's busiest from late morning to afternoon. Early visits feel spacious; late afternoon brings families and the best light across Dal.
In autumn the chinars turn red and amber; in spring, flower beds fill the terraces.

About an hour.
Usually from morning to around sunset; hours shorten in winter.
The lower terraces are manageable; the upper ones have steps.
Nishat has the grander lake view; Shalimar is more intimate. Most people see both.
Yes, a small fee paid at the gate.
No payment to ask. A real person in Srinagar replies on WhatsApp, 9 am to 9 pm every day.
