Roadside curiosity · Ladakh
A marked box on the road shows where to stop.
Magnetic Hill is a stretch of the Leh–Kargil highway, about 30 km from Leh, where an optical illusion makes vehicles appear to roll uphill. It's a quick roadside stop, usually combined with the Sangam (Indus–Zanskar confluence) and Gurudwara Pathar Sahib on the same drive.

The effect is an illusion of slope, not magnetism.
Views of the barren Indus valley.
