Sonmarg Trip Cost: Day Trip or an Overnight Stay

The short answer

The question in Sonmarg is whether to stay at all. A day visit adds only a vehicle day to a Srinagar-based plan. An overnight puts a Sonmarg night in the route. On our indicative rate card, Srinagar – Sonmarg – Pahalgam, which has a Sonmarg night, is ₹50,499 in September for two adults, and Srinagar – Gulmarg – Pahalgam, the same nights with Gulmarg instead, is ₹51,699.

The Sonmarg cost model

Two routes lead to Sonmarg. On one, you stay in Srinagar and spend a day there, which costs a vehicle day. On the other, you sleep in Sonmarg, which costs a room and shifts the nights in your route. A third case is the overnight on the way to Kargil and Ladakh, where Sonmarg is a stage and not a destination.

Srinagar – Gulmarg – Pahalgam and Srinagar – Sonmarg – Pahalgam both spend two nights in Srinagar and two in Pahalgam, so the difference in the totals comes from the single night in Gulmarg or in Sonmarg and the plan’s other costs. Family Kashmir has both Sonmarg and Gulmarg, with an extra night.
