Srinagar’s old city (Shehr-e-Khaas) is the part most visitors miss. A 2–3 hour walk covers Jamia Masjid’s wooden pillars, the carved Khanqah-e-Moula on the Jhelum, Pather Masjid, the old bridges and bazaars of copper, spices and bakery bread. Go in the morning with a local guide and dress modestly.
