The short answer

A Vande Bharat service links Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra with Srinagar, so you can follow a yatra with Kashmir without a long road transfer. Train numbers, timings and operating days have changed since the service began, so take the figures below as what a notice said on the date shown, and confirm the current train on National Train Enquiry System (NTES) or IRCTC before you plan around it.

Scope and assumptions
  • We read a Northern Railway notice, reported by All India Radio, on 6 October 2026. We did not check the live timetable or seat availability.
  • We do not state fares, classes or whether seats are available.
  • Train tickets are bought through Indian Railways or IRCTC. They are not part of our plans, including the plan that uses the train.

Earlier timetables and a further special train have been reported since the service began, and they show different times. That is why the guide gives no single timetable.

Plan around the arrival time

Your first day in Srinagar depends on when the train arrives. On the timings published in that notice, a morning departure from Jammu Tawi reaches Srinagar before midday. A later arrival leaves less of the day. Do not plan a full sightseeing day until you know the time on your ticket.

If you are following a yatra with Kashmir, allow rest between the two. Our plan Katra to Srinagar by Train has one night in Katra, then Srinagar, Gulmarg and Pahalgam, and it is built on the train. The ticket is bought separately.

At Srinagar station

We can arrange a vehicle to meet you at the station. See railway station pickup for what the arrangement states and what it does not.

If the train changes or does not run

Rail services can be changed or cancelled. Keep your onward arrangements flexible, and tell us your train number so we can plan the pickup around it. If the train is not an option, the journey can be done by road, and we can discuss that.
