On those times, going to Srinagar leaves you with the afternoon of the arrival day, and coming back puts you in Jammu in the evening. If those times have changed, the same logic applies to the new ones: work out how much of each day is left.
Your first day in Srinagar
A morning train leaves the afternoon for check-in, a shikara ride or a short walk. Our six-day plan Srinagar – Gulmarg – Pahalgam puts exactly that on Day 1. Do not assume a full sightseeing day: the train can run late and the transfer takes time.
Your last day
An afternoon departure from Srinagar means the morning is free, but if your onward connection from Jammu is the same evening, leave a margin. Ask for the vehicle to reach the station in good time, and keep your own buffer.
